KUALA LUMPUR: The President of Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has made it clear that he would never become an ally of Perikatan Nasional (PN), come what may.
According to the former minister of Youth and Sports, he has been threatened with prosecution if he doesn't join PN and this has been going on for more than a year.
"Every time there is important voting to be done in the Parliament, there will be incoming threats be it on July, December, January and now, one week before the convening of Parliament.
"Brave because (I stand for) truth. I will never sell my soul and principles to PN," he said in a video uploaded on his Twitter.
The video garnered more than 400,000 views on Twitter and was shared more than 7,000 times.
"It is in moments like this that I'm reminded why I joined politics, truth will always prevail. I would rather go to court than join PN," he emphasised.
Earlier today, the youth politician pleaded not guilty to charges of criminal breach of trust (CBT) and misappropriation of over RM1.2 million from his former political party Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
Saddiq who was the Youth Chief for the party at that time was accused of withdrawing the sum of RM1 million on March 6 last year from the youth wing account without approvals from party chiefs.
For the second charge, he was accused of misappropriating RM120,000 worth of election funds last year in April before the last general election from the Armada Bersatu youth wing.
The Muar MP said he will conduct a live session on Facebook and Instagram at 8.30pm tonight to talk about more of the incident.
