KAAMATAN CELEBRATION CAUSES NEW CLUSTER IN KOTA KINABALU

KOTA KINABALU: A new Covid-19 cluster has emerged in Kota Kinabalu today known as the Kionsom Kecil cluster which is believed to be derived from a Kaamatan celebration.
In a statement today, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said the cluster involves infection among the community and it first appeared through symptomatic screening on June 9.
“The index case of the cluster is a 31-year-old male who works at Jijiko Engineering Sdn Bhd, Inanam and was treated in Low-Risk Treatment Centres (PKRC) after he tested positive.
"Out of 86 test samples that have been taken through close and social contacts screening, 27 came back positive bringing the cumulative total to 40 cases.
"Meanwhile, 12 test samples came back negative while 34 other are still awaiting results," he said.
