KENINGAU CONTINUES TO RECORD HIGH NUMBER OF COVID CASES

KOTA KINABALU: Keningau district continues to record a high number of new Covid-19 cases with 26 cases registered today.
With today’s high number in Keningau, the total number of new cases in Sabah goes up to 60 from 36 yesterday, said Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun.
Kota Belud reported six new cases while Tawau and Tuaran each recorded four, Kota Kinabalu and Kota Marudu each recorded three cases, two cases each in Tenom, Kinabatangan, Papar and Beluran, and one case each in Kalabakan, Putatan, Nabawan, Kunak, Sipitang and Tambunan.
Districts that did not detect new Covid-19 cases include Penampang, Lahad Datu, Sandakan, Telupid, Kudat, Beaufort, Ranau, Pitas, Kuala Penyu, Semporna and Tongod.
In his statement today, Masidi said the latest additions have brought the cumulative total of statewide infections to 54,355 to date.
"Of the total, 29 cases stemmed from close contacts, seven from symptomatic screening, one from existing cluster, and the rest from other categories.
"A total of 42 patients have recovered, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 53,510," he said.
According to Masidi, a total of 395 patients are still receiving treatment with 51 in the hospitals and the rest in Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres.
He added that 17 of them are warded in the intensive care unit (ICU), with three of them ventilated.
