Learn at least three languages - Ewon

PENAMPANG: Learning Chinese provides both practical and personal benefits, expanding horizons, fostering cultural understanding, and opening doors to new opportunities.


Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative Datuk Ewon Benedick said he had always encouraged people to know at least three languages.


This included their mother tongue, Bahasa Malaysia as the national language and another language of international communication, such as Chinese.


Speaking to reporters after attending a Chinese New Year celebration in Putatan recently Ewon who is also Penampang Member of Parliament said he supported the establishment of Chinese schools and encouraged people to learn this language.


On entreprenual development in Putatan, he encouraged aspirants and established members of the business community to acquire assistance from the ten agencies under his ministry's purview.


The agencies included TEKUN, SME Corp and Amanah Ikhtiar among others, while Bank Rakyat and SME Bank could be consulted about acquiring loans.


Earlier in his speech he stated that he established and launch a special grant for Sabah and Sarawak entrepreneurs in October last year.


With all these establishment to help entrepreneurs in Sabah, the business community in Putatan can utilised these venue to start their business ventures or expand their business.


He commented that Putatan has grown in its development tremendously through the years and commended the community leaders of that area.


As Member of Parliament he is always open for discussion on any needs that concerns Putatan, he stressed.


Also present during the event were UPKO Putatan Division Chief Datuk Marcus Mojigoh, Political Secretary to the Minister Carl Mosoom and Chinese Community leaders in Putatan including organising chairman Poh Wing Hiung, representative of the Chinese Welfare Association Wong Yin Kong and Senior Citizen Activities Association chairperson Wong Hoon Shyn.
