KOTA KINABALU: A new Covid-19 cluster has been detected in Keningau, known as the Batu 27 Sook cluster involving a workplace infection.
Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said that the infection had occurred among workers of a plank processing factory in Sook, Keningau.
“The index case is a 23-year-old foreigner who tested positive through a workplace screening on Aug 9.
“Unfortunately, four more individuals also tested positive involving the index cases’ colleagues at the same day,” he said in a statement today.
Following the case, 55 out of 136 individuals screened tested positive including 50 new cases reported today.
“It was believed that the source of infection was from the social activities in the workers quarters,” he added,
