NEW COVID-19 CLUSTER IN SANDAKAN INVOLVES STUDENT

KOTA KINABALU: One new Covid-19 cluster was detected in Sandakan today, said Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Masidi Manjun.


In a statement today, he said the cluster - Jalan Labuk Cluster - has a cumulative total of 15 infections, including two new positive cases reported today/


"The index case of this cluster is a student who tested positive through a screening of students entering hostel on Jan 22.


"Close contact screening found several of the student's friends and teachers to have tested positive for Covid-19," he said.


Sabah today recorded a total of 263 new cases, with 192 cases stemming from close contact screening.


"Fourty-one cases stemmed from screening of symptomatic individuals, eight from new and existing clusters, two from screeening of hostel students and 20 from various categories."
