NEW MERUNTUM CLUSTER DETECTED IN PUTATAN

KOTA KINABALU: A new Covid-19 cluster has been detected in Putatan which has a cumulative total of eight cases, said Local Government and Housing Datuk Masidi Manjun.
According to his statement today, the Meruntum cluster recorded two new cases today with one each in Putatan and Penampang.
The index case involved a native chief who tested positive through symptomatic screening on April 8 at a private clinic.
"It was found that the index case attended an aqiqah ceremony at Kg Meruntum Fasa III on 27 and 28 March 2021, and then went to a course at the Putatan District Council on 31 March and 1 April 2021.
"A total of 71 close contacts have been screened following the detection where eight of them tested positive, while 62 are still awaiting results," he said in a statement today
Masidi added the cluster also involved one case which was detected outside of Penampang district.
