KOTA KINABALU: Covid-19 immunisation programme among illegal immigrants will only executed after 70 per cent of locals have received the jab, said Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun.
In a press conference today, he said the State Government, National Security Council and other relevant agencies are still in talks on the mechanism to register the undocumented immigrants.
“This plan is still under discussion and will be announced once there are decisions later,” he said.
However, for documented foreigners and migrant workers, he said they are scheduled to receive the vaccination in second phase onwards together with citizens based on age and comorbidity.
On another matter, Masidi mentioned that the State Health Department is targeting a total of 30,000 vaccinations on a daily basis for second and third phases.
He added that the immunisation programme will be conducted every day, including Saturdays and Sundays.
“Vaccination is planned to be implemented simultaneously throughout the state. However, this planning is subject to supply and delivery of vaccines from the federal level.
“To ensure that the vaccination programme is always running, the planning will be given in stages.”
