KOTA KINABALU: A new workplace cluster in Kinabatangan has been detected today known as the Sungai Pin 3 cluster.
In a statement today, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun stated that the index case is a 51-year-old farmworker who works at a palm oil plantation in Sukau who tested positive on Aug 9 after having symptoms since July 27.
Following the case, the index case was taken to Kinabatangan Hospital for further treatment.
“Fifty-five out of 83 close contacts tested positive, including 52 new cases today involving the index case’s farmworkers and dependents.
“However, Covid-19 sampling and disinfection activities are still being conducted to assess the risk of new infection spreading to other farms,” he added.
