PUBLIC INVITED TO JOIN WEBINAR ON IMPACTS OF INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT IN SABAH

KOTA KINABALU: An online public forum discussing the impacts of the controversial Pan Borneo Highway on the local people and the surrounding environment will be held on June 29, at 2-5pm.


The general public especially Sabahans are welcome to join the “Human Habitats Highways Public Forum: Finding Ways Forward Together” webinar as it will unravel the truth of those people affected by the construction.


The event is organised by LEAP and Forever Sabah. The programme feature a docuseries comprising of two short documentaries with Roundtable discussions films on the impacts of the Pan Borneo Highway, voices of the communities and private sector on the Environmental Impact Assessment process, as well as locus standi and community displacements along the Pan Borneo Highway.


“In terms of infrastructure development, how can Sabah improve on its social, environmental, and economic impact? Over four years of proactively engaging with government, private sector, academia, and civil society, what's the next critical step moving forward?


“We've touched on some points for Sabah's future regarding planning, social impact, and strengthening the Environment Impact Assessment in the document attached,” said a statement released by organisations today.


The forum will present the culmination of four years of work on Humans, Habitats Highways, with a strategic focus on a collaborative assessment on the Pan Borneo Highway.
