RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES IN MOSQUES, SURAU DURING RAMADAN MONTH ALLOWED WITH SOPS STARTING APRIL 12

KOTA KINABALU: Religious activities in the mosques or suraus throughout Ramadan month will be allowed with adherence of standard operating procedures (SOPs) starting April 12.
Local Government and Housing Minister said the State Government gave Sabah the green light for congregational and Friday prayers to be carried out according to the full capacity of premises with physical distancing of one metre.
"Among the activities in mosques and suraus that are allowed during the Ramadan month is Tarawih prayers and should be limited to eight rakaat, with the recitation of short surahs or verses. Takzirah' is not allowed during the Tarawih.
"The breaking of fast and the Suhoor banquets, as well as Tadarus and Quran classes, and Qiamullail and I'tikaf are also not allowed, except for 12 committee members of the mosques or suraus," he said in a statement today.
Masidi added that moreh is allowed in packets only.
"Programmes and activities by the state religious departments and agencies are permitted in mosques and suraus such as the Amil Zakat counters and zakat assistance distribution by complying with the existing SOPs.
"All mosques and suraus shall carry out all guidelines and SOPS enforced and set by the authorities."
