KOTA KINABALU: The State Government will implement the inter-district restriction earlier than it was scheduled due to the increased number of daily Covid-19 cases in Sabah.

Previously, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun announced that the inter-district ban would initiate from May 27 to June 3.

“However, following the drastic increase of Covid-19 cases in the state over the past three days, the government has decided to change the inter-district restrictions from May 24 until June 7,” he said in a statement today.

Over the past three days, Sabah has recorded whopping three figures of cases with 160 cases (May 19), 245 cases (May 20) and 144 cases (May 21) respectively.

Masidi said the implementation of the inter-district restriction is to control the movement and infections between the districts in the red and orange, green and yellow categories.

Kota Kinabalu, Putatan and Penampang are categorized as one district.
