Sabah records 1,912 new Covid-19 recovery cases

KOTA KINABALU: The number of Covid-19 recovery cases in Sabah today is 1,912, which is higher than the state’s daily positive cases, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries to 160,414
Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said that Sabah has recorded 1,356 new Covid-19 cases, a drop of 39 cases compared to yesterday’s 1,395, pushing the statewide caseload to 185,577.
However, he stated that Sabah still records a high number of Covid-19 death cases with 35 new cases reported today.
“Of the total death cases today, Sandakan recorded the highest with 14 new cases, followed by Kota Kinabalu (nine), Keningau (three), Putatan and Lahad Datu (two), and one each in Kunak, Ranau, Tawau, Penampang and Nabawan.
“Close contact screening continues to record the highest number of positive cases with 766 which is of the total daily cases.
"This was followed by symptomatic screening (380), cluster screening (11), and the rest is in other categories," he said in a statement today.
Masidi who is also the Covid-19 spokesperson for Sabah said that the number of cases in Category One and Two is 1,270, Category Three, Category Four and Category Five (nine),” he added.
The number of active cases now stands at 4,106 with 2,589 patients being treated in quarantine centres, 1,408 at hospitals, nine in private facilities and the rest in temporary detention centres.
"To date, there are 213 patients currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit with 72 of them ventilated," he added.
