SABAH RECORDS 38 NEW COVID-19 CASES, 44 RECOVERIES

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered a total of 38 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 54,623.

In a statement today, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said 13 of the cases stemmed from close contact screening, eight from symptomatic screening, eight from existing clusters, and nine from other categories.

All affected districts only recorded a single-digit number of new cases with the highest at Kalabakan with five cases, followed by Lahad Datu, Kota Kinabalu and Kota Belud with four cases, Tawau, Kunak and Kinabatangan with three cases, two each in Penampang, Keningau, Putatan, Tenom and Sandakan, and one each in Papar and Tambunan.

A total of 13 districts did not record new cases, namely Nabawan, Kota Marudu, Beaufort, Tuaran, Semporna, Sipitang, Beluran, Telupid, Kudat, Ranau, Pitas, Kuala Penyu and Tongod.

"A total of 44 patients have also recovered from Covid-19. To date, a total of 53,777 recovered cases have been recorded in Sabah.

"However, 430 patients are still receiving treatment with 177 in hospitals and the rest in Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres," said Masidi.

He added that 26 of them are warded in the intensive care unit (ICU), including 12 requiring ventilator support.
