KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government will make sure the state gets priority in all the initiatives and economic stimulus packages introduced by the federal government to cushion the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, said Chief Minister Datuk Hajiji Noor. "Sabah is one of the worst affected by the pandemic; therefore the state government will work closely with Putrajaya to ensure we will be prioritised in all its initiatives," he said in a statement here today. He said this when commenting on the RM15 billion Perlindungan Ekonomi dan Rakyat Malaysia (PERMAI) assistance package announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin two days ago.

Hajiji said the PERMAI package, which consists of 22 initiatives to combat COVID-19, safeguard the people's welfare and support business continuity, would certainty help alleviate the hardship faced by all Malaysians in this difficult time. He admitted that the road towards recovery would not be easy due to the pandemic's global impact on the economy. "But, make no mistake, the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah state government is taking every possible measure to ensure Sabah's economy will recover," he added. - Bernama
