KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Credit Corporation (SCC) launched its Customer Appreciation Day on 15 April in celebration of its 70th anniversary.
The event was held in conjunction with the UTC Sabah 2025 Hari Raya Open House.
The ceremony, which took place at the urban transformation centre, was attended by various stakeholders, including customers, strategic partners, and government agencies, to express appreciation to all who have been part of SCC’s seven-decade journey.
In his welcoming speech, SCC Chief Executive Officer Datuk George Taitim Tulas stated that the 70th anniversary is not just a celebration but a historic moment to reflect on past achievements and plan for the future of the financial institution.
“Seven decades have been a journey filled with challenges and transformations. We have helped build a brighter future for the people of Sabah through inclusive and responsible financial services,” he said.
The event also featured the launch of the “Exploration Programme: Journey with You,” an initiative aimed at reaching out across Sabah, encompassing 13 District Customer Centres and 7 SCC Customer Service Centres.
George explained that this tour series will strengthen relationships with customers and local communities while providing opportunities for the public to better understand SCC’s roles and core values.
“Customer Appreciation Day is our way of bridging the gap with the community, valuing their support, and continuing to build trust in SCC,” he stated.
Among the main attractions of this celebration was a historical exhibition showcasing SCC's achievements and transformation since 1955, along with success stories from customers who have benefited from various financing schemes.
To keep pace with current developments, SCC also introduced future initiatives, including digital transformation, improvements in customer service systems, and a more sustainable approach.
“We must adapt to the changing financial landscape. Technology will be a key driver in our efforts to remain relevant and efficient,” George added.
The event incorporated elements of corporate social responsibility (CSR), including contributions to schools, support for community programmes, and financial assistance for small entrepreneurs throughout the state.
Beneficiaries included Sekolah Kebangsaan Api Api Kota Kinabalu, which received RM519,920.00 for the construction of a school assembly roof, presented to the Headmaster, Mohd. Hafiz Zuraumy Damsah; and Diabetes Malaysia, Sabah Branch, which received a Fundus Camera worth RM392,000.00 for diabetes treatment, accepted by its Chairperson, Professor Rosalind Kueh.
“This is our long-term commitment to empower communities and support the socio-economic development of Sabah,” George remarked.
In the spirit of Syawal, the Hari Raya Open House, jointly organised with UTC Sabah, added to the festive atmosphere, bringing together various segments of society to strengthen ties and foster unity.
George also expressed gratitude to all SCC staff, partners, and customers who have contributed to the organisation’s success over the past 70 years.
“This celebration is not only about looking back but also about setting the tone and direction for an even brighter future,” he said.
The 70th anniversary celebrations of SCC are expected to continue with various programmes throughout the year as a testament to their commitment to customers and the people of Sabah as a whole.
