Scouts promote exemplary traits as potential leaders of tomorrow

KOTA KINABALU: Examplary traits are promoted through various scout activities including camping.
The aim is to help young scouts become responsible, self-reliant, and contributing members of society.
To this end, an inaugural scout camping activity is being carried at (SK) Bahang Primary School Penampang from November 10 to 14 this year.
Penampang Member of Parliament Datuk Ewon Benedick who officiated in the event, in his speech thanked the Bank Rakyat Foundation for Full Funding of the Five-Day Camping Programme.
"The foundation, which falls under my responsibility and is dedicated to assisting such activities, has played a crucial role in making this camping event on this level of success," he said.
"The camping programme can promote unity and understanding among the participants, and it is our hope that it will achieve this objective."
"Over the course of five days, attendees will engage in various activities designed to foster mutual respect and strengthen bonds," he said.
"It is our belief that this camping programme will leave a lasting positive impact on all those involved, that they will keep to their adulthood, as leaders or members of society," he said, adding that such values in life was instilled in him by his mother who raised him on her own.
"This country needs to continue to be developed, and the traits of leadership need to be instilled as early as when we are in school," he said.
The Scout camp was attended by nearly 600 participants from all over Sabah, including the South West Coast, North West Coast, Upper Interior, Lower Interior, Sandakan, and Tawau, as well as participants from Indonesia (Scouts).
Ewon is also the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative.
Also present during the event was the Sabah Scout Chief Commissioner
Jamaludin Jamal Jinal.
