SIX LOCALITIES IN SABAH UNDER 14-DAY EMCO STARTING SUNDAY

KOTA KINABALU: A total of three localities in Papar, as well as one each in Sandakan, Kota Kinabalu, and Kudat, will be placed under a 14-day enhanced movement control order (EMCO) starting this Sunday (June 6).


In Papar, Local Government and Housing Datuk Masidi Manjun said the three localities have a cumulative total of 28 Covid-19 cases.


"A total of 15 positive cases have been detected out of 56 screening tests in Kampung Gusi Kinarut, while eight and five cases were found in Kampung Tengah Kinarut and Kampung Benoni, respectively.


"In Sandakan, the locality involved is Lorong Ulu Sibuga 5 & 9, Fasa 7 Taman Mawar, with a cumulative total of 18 cases.


"In Kota Kinabalu, Taman Wangsa, Jalan Telipok will be placed under EMCO and the locality has a cumulative total of 12 positive cases," he said in a statement today.


Meanwhile, Kampung Perpaduan in Banggi, Kudat will also be put under EMCO as eight positive cases have been detected in the locality as of today.


According to Masidi, the decision to impose EMCO on these localities was made after a joint risk assessment with various agencies from the MCO Technical Committee and on the advice of the Ministry of Health.
