SIX LOCALITIES IN SABAH UNDER EMCO FROM THURSDAY

KOTA KINABALU: A total of six localities involving Beaufort, Kota Belud, Kudat, Sandakan and Kota Kinabalu will be placed under a 14-day enhanced movement control order (EMCO) starting Thursday (10 June).
Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said in Beaufort, the locality identified is Taman Wawasan with has a cumulative total of 23 Covid-19 cases out of 37 individuals that have been screened.
In Kota Belud, the locality that will be placed under EMCO is Kampung Kembayau with 11 positive cases recorded out of 16 screening tests conducted.
In Kudat, the locality that will also be placed under EMCO is Kampung Batu Layar, Pulau Banggi where the cumulative total is seven cases.
"There are two localities involved in Sandakan, namely Kampung Sungai Obar in Batu 7 and Fasa 9B, Taman Indah Jaya.
"To date, a total 27 residents were screened in Kamping Sungai Obar and 10 of them tested positive, while 18 positive cases out of 112 individuals screened in Taman Indah Jaya were recorded," he said in his statement today.
Another locality that will undergo EMCO is Kampung Likas in Kota Kinabalu which has a cumulative total of 22 positive cases, he added.
Masidi said the decision to impose EMCO on these localities was made after a joint risk assessment with various agencies from the MCO Technical Committee and on the advice of the Ministry of Health.
