Soap from used cooking oil, environmentally friendly practice

TENOM: A workshop on making soap from used cooking oil was recently held, attended by 42 participants from the Neighbourhood Watch Areas (KRT) of Kg Lologubon and Kg Pamilaan Ulu.
The primary objective of the workshop was to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to produce environmentally-friendly soap products. Conducted by Madavan Makandran, an experienced trainer from the Department of National Unity, the one-day workshop covered both basic and advanced techniques for transforming used cooking oil into high-quality soap.
The closing ceremony of the workshop, organised by the Tenom District KRT in collaboration with the Yayasan Bank Rakyat (YBR), was officiated by Junik Bajit, a Board Member of the YBR.
In his address, he commended the initiatives undertaken by KRT Lologubon and KRT Pamilaan Ulu in hosting this valuable workshop.
He also encouraged participants to apply the knowledge acquired to produce soap products for personal use or for commercial purposes.
Also present at the closing ceremony were Biyanah Marcus , Jenson Tamio Secretary of CLC United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) N.42 Melalap), along with the chairpersons of KRT Kg. Pamilaan Ulu and KRT Lologubon.
Their presence highlighted strong support for the KRT's efforts to enhance community welfare.
The workshop not only provided economic benefits but also contributed to environmental sustainability. By converting used cooking oil into soap, participants can help reduce environmental pollution and promote recycling practices.
It is hoped that workshops of this nature will continue in the future, benefiting even more members of the community.
