SOP CHANGES: 7AM TO 7PM FOR KEY ECONOMIC SECTORS - MASIDI

KOTA KINABALU: The State Government has again amended the business operating hours for key economic sectors after issuing a statement on changes of operating hours for businesses late last night.


Yesterday, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun announced through a statement that key business sectors would only be allowed to operate from 9am to 5pm, before changing it to 9am to 6pm almost two hours later.


Today, the operating hours for key business sectors such as restaurants, convenient stores, delivery services, malls, pharmacies and clinics, among others, has been amended to 7am to 7pm.


However, the operating hours allowed for public and daily markets remain unchanged: 6am to 3pm.


Masidi said, gas stations and convenient stores in gas stations will be allowed to operate from 6am to 8pm, while the operating hours for professional firm offices such as accountancy, law, audit, engineering and architecture, among others, are 9am to 5pm.


For financial and banking institutes, the business operating allowed throughout the movement control order is 8.30am to 5.30pm.


The operating hours for other sectors that are allowed to open is still in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) issued by the State Government on May 31, and the transportation sector will follow the SOP issued by the Public Work Ministry of June 1.
