Storm victim assisted by Assemblyman

SANDAKAN; The owner of a house that was damaged in a storm at Kampung Batu 1, Gum-Gum received assistance from Assemblyman Datuk Jaffari Waliam.

During the storm, which occurred on Tuesday afternoon, the home of Normawati Amir was damaged when an oil palm tree fell onto the roof, damaging the windows, and ceiling.

A delegation from the Appointed Assemblyman’s Service Centre, led by the Centre’s Deputy Head, Viktor Chu Dulay, visited the victim on Wednesday and delivered assistance on behalf of Jaffari to help ease the family’s burden.

Also present during the visit were the Women’s Wing Leader, Walhamni Djahila; Secretary, Samuri Saka; Information Chief, Wakiman Samizan; and Committee Member, Mahadir Abd Mantap.

According to Viktor, the assistance was part of the Appointed Assemblyman’s ongoing commitment to ensuring the welfare of the people, especially in times of emergency and disaster.

“Datuk Jaffari was unable to attend due to official duties, but he sent word that aid should be delivered immediately and the victims’ well-being must be prioritised.

“This is a testament to his concern for the people, particularly when it involves the safety of their homes,” he said.

Meanwhile, Normawati expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the prompt assistance provided by the Appointed Assemblyman.

“I’m very thankful for the visit from the Service Centre team and for the contribution given. It will help ease our family’s burden during this difficult time,” she said.
