KENINGAU : The traditional cultural performance of Sumayau Magunatip captivated visitors at the Sabah 2025 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Carnival, Keningau Zone and The Crocker Range Festival Season 8, held recently at Dataran Keningau.
The vibrant event was presented by the Coalition of Kujau Gana Nabai Sabah Ethnic Cultural and Welfare Associations (KGNS) and the Youth Association of Kampung Buang Sayang, Bingkor, as a symbol of unity and a celebration of the enduring cultural heritage of Sabah’s interior communities.
Also present in support was Deputy President of KGNS, Yazid Mohd Hasnan Tawik Mansai @ Charles, who expressed pride in the commitment of local youth in preserving their ancestral cultural identity.
The prestigious carnival was officiated by Sabah State Minister of Youth and Sports and State Assemblyman for Sook, Datuk Ellron Alfred Angin, representing Sabah Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor.
According to the organisers, the objective of the programme was to empower local entrepreneurs through the MSME platform while promoting local arts and culture as a high-impact tourism asset.
The festival featured a variety of activities, including a micro-entrepreneur exhibition, traditional food demonstrations, creative arts competitions, and performances by various ethnic groups from across Sabah’s interior.
Events such as this not only ignite patriotic spirit and cultural appreciation, but also create opportunities for business networking and cross-ethnic community collaboration within the state.
