KOTA KINABALU: The swift action taken by a hostel warden at SMK Nabawan which had prevented the further spread of Covid-19 should be an example to other schools from other states, said Local government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun.

Masidi applauded the warden, Lisa who is also the school’s teacher, and the principal Haliman Darion for their action in isolating students who exhibited Covid-19 symptoms.

“The warden had done a commendable act by isolating the students in a separate dormitory room during the screening test of the students returning to hostel," he said in a statement today, also expressing his congratulatory.

Masidi said three of the school's students contracted the virus after attending their grandmother's funeral ceremony before returning to school.

"I hope when such cases occur, the school acts wisely like the warden and teacher at SMK Nabawan.

"The Sinsingon cluster in Nabawan has today recorded a cumulative total of 29 positive cases," he said.

Hs added that the infections from cluster have spread to other districts, namely to Kota Kinabalu with three cases and Keningau with two cases, as other family members from the two districts also attended the ceremony.
