TAMBUNAN BATU 8 CLUSTER CAUSED BY CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION ACTIVITIES

KOTA KINABALU: Social activities like paddy harvesting and Christmas celebration are among the factors that have led to a newly identified Covid-19 cluster in Sabah, said Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Masidi Manjun.

The cluster, Batu 8 Cluster, was detected in Tambunan and is among the nine clusters that are recently detected in the country.

"The cluster recorded four new cases today, bringing the total of cumulative cases of the cluster to 52.

"The cluster also recorded positive cases in two different districts, namely Ranau with three cases and Kota Belud with two," he said in a statement here, Saturday.

The index case for this cluster (the 101,678th case) was reported positive for the virus on Dec 26 through a close contact screening.

To date (Saturday), a total of 341 individuals have been screened.
