TAMPARULI FLOOD OPERATIONS ROOM ACTIVATED

TAMPARULI: The Flood Disaster Committee Operations Room at the Tamparuli Sub-District Office has been activated in preparation to evacuate residents should flood water level rises in that area.

Rural Development Minister Datuk Jahid Jahim said his role is to gather information and present to the Tuaran District Flood Disaster Committee Operations Room.

"I have asked the Tamparuli Sub-District Office as well as the Community Development Leaders unit (UPPM) and People's Representative Office to be prepared to face any eventuality in order to help channel aid and evacuate flood victims," he said.

He was presenting the Creamos Bun and Sweet Bread donation to Tamparuli residents who are currently quarantined for Covid-19 here, yesterday.

Jahid who is also Tamparuli State Assemblyman said the immediate activation is important to convey information on any areas that are in need of assistance such as boats, evacuation centres, food supplies.

According to him for now, there are currently three Temporary Evacuation Centres in the district, namely Masjid Kampung Bunga Tenghilan, Dewan Tun Hamdan, and Dewan Seri Sulaman.

More centres will be added when there is a need, he added. "If necessary, the Tamparuli State Assembly Office will also help provide a place for information gathering and coordination of aid distribution."

Majlis penyampaian sebanyak 7,000 Creamos Bun dan 1,000 Roti Keras Manis kepada lebih kurang 500 orang dari 9 kampung terlibat merupakan anjuran bersama Kementerian Pembangunan Luar Bandar, Pejabat Adun Tamparuli, Pejabat Daerah Kecil Tamparuli dan Unit Pemimpin Pembangunan Masyarakat (UPPM) Tamparuli.

Selepas majlis itu, Jahid turut melawat ke Kampung Sungai Damit, salah satu kampung yang turut dinaiki air.
