Tawau Municipal Council Crowned Champion of KBS11S 2024

PAPAR: The Tawau Municipal Council (MPT) has been crowned the champion of the 2024 Minister's Sabah Local Government and Housing Ministry 11-a-side Football Championship (KBS11S).

The Putatan District Council (MDP) secured the title of runner-up, while the joint third place was shared by the Papar District Council (MDP), as the host, and the Sipitang District Council (MDS).

The tournament, which featured 14 teams from various Local Authorities (PBT) in Sabah, culminated in an award presentation ceremony held at the Datuk Salleh Sulong Hall in Papar on December 12.

The ceremony was officiated by Deputy Chief Minister II and Minister of Local Government and Housing, Datuk Seri Dr. Joachim Gunsalam.

In his speech, Dr. Joachim expressed his appreciation to all the teams that participated and to the organising committee for their hard work.

“Congratulations to the Tawau Municipal Council for achieving the championship title. I would also like to commend all participants for demonstrating high sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the tournament,” he said.

He praised the collaboration of all parties involved in making the event a success, emphasising that such events not only promote a healthy lifestyle but also strengthen relationships among local authorities in Sabah.

“The success of this tournament proves that close cooperation between various parties can produce quality events that have a positive impact on the community,” he added.

Additionally, Dr. Joachim expressed his hope that this tournament could continue on a biennial basis and serve as a platform to strengthen unity among PBT members throughout Sabah.

The event concluded with a trophy presentation to the winning teams, further igniting the spirit of sportsmanship and friendship that is the core of this tournament.

Also present were Papar Member of Parliament Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, Datuk Rosli Ibrahim; Limbahau State Assemblyman, Datuk Juil Nuatim; Papar District Officer, Muhammad Mohd Ali; Community Development Leader for Limbahau, Datuk Johnny Mositun; and the Executive Officer of the Papar District Council, who is also the Organising chairman of KBS11S, Jaludin Abd Karim.
