KOTA KINABALU: Thirteen contractors received their appointment letters from Federal Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi during an official ceremony attended by State Minister of Works Datuk Shahelmy Yahya.

These contractors will oversee 19 of the 35 work packages for Phase 1B of the Pan Borneo Highway Project.

This federally funded initiative, with an estimated cost of RM13.989 billion, aims to construct a federal road from Kota Belud to Kudat and upgrade the existing federal road from Ranau to Lahad Datu.

Phase 1B encompasses four main components: the North West Road Link (Work Packages 11-14, Kota Belud-Kudat), the South East Road Link (Work Packages 16-20, Tawau-Lahad Datu), the North East Road Link (Work Packages 22-26, Lahad Datu-Sandakan), and the Central Road Link (Work Packages 31-35, Telupid-Ranau). The entire phase is projected to take 36 to 48 months to complete.
