KOTA KINABALU: Two localities in Sabah, one each in Keningau and Papar, will be placed under 14 days’ enhanced movement control order (EMCO) starting May 29.
Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said the localities involved are Kampung Baru Durok in Keningau and Kampung Mook Kinarut in Papar.
He said, 28 out of 158 individuals who have undergone screening tested positive for Covid-19 in Kampung Baru Durok while nine individuals out of 35 were screened also tested positive in Kampung Mook Kinarut.
Masidi added that there has been a drastic increase of cases in a short time with a high infectivity rate in both of the localities.
“The state government has made the decision to place Kampung Baru Durok, Keningau and Kampung Mook Kinarut, Papar under EMCO starting May 29 until June 11.
"The decision to place the localities under lockdown was made in order to restrict the public movement so that the virus would not spread to other places," he said in a statement today.
