TWO STUDENTS AMONG 295 NEW COVID-19 CASES RECORDED IN SABAH

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah continued to record a decrease in daily Covid cases, with 295 registered today compared to 303 yesterday.


Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said the latest addition brings the cumulative total of Covid-19 cases in Sabah to 47,737.


He said, of the total, 211 cases stemmed from close contact screening, 55 from screening of symptomatic individuals, 10 from new and existing clusters, 11 from various categories, six from ward pre-admittance screening, and two from screening of students entering hostel.


Kota Kinabalu reported the highest number of cases with 52, followed by Tawau (47), Putatan (30), Penampang (22), Keningau (17), Kudat (16), Papar (14), Lahad Datu (13), Sandakan (13), Kunak (13), and Kota Marudu (10).


There are 12 districts that recorded only single-digit new cases today namely, Tuaran (nine), Beaufort (seven), Kalabakan (six), Kuala Penyu (five), Ranau (three), Kota Belud (three), Semporna (three), Pitas (two), Nabawan (two), Tenom (two), and Telupid (one).


"Sipitang, Beluran, Tambunan and Tongod did not record any case new cases," said Masidi in a press conference here, today.


Meanwhile, 419 recovered patients have been discharged today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 43,628.


"A total of 2,618 patients are currently receving treatment with 772 of them in the hospitals, 1,844 at the Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres, and two in the temporary detention centre.


"Ninety-five patients are treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) and 26 of them require ventilator aid," he said.


Unfortunately, one new Covid-19 fatality was recorded today in Putatan.
