UNDOCUMENTED DUO FINED RM150,000 FOR ILLEGALLY POSSESSING PETROL

TAWAU: The Sessions Court here has imposed a fine of RM150,000 on two foreign men for possessing petrol oil without the permission of the Malaysian Supply Controller.


Tawau Sessions Court Judge Awang Kerisnada Awang Mahmud passed the sentence on Talzan Tigasan and Sanyo Naldo after both pleaded guilty to the charge.


The duo, who do not possess any identity documents, committed an offence under Section 20 (1) of the Control of Supply Act 1961.


Talzan was fined RM100,000 or two years' imprisonment, and six months' imprisonment, after he pleaded guilty to possessing 775 litres of petrol in an unregistered speedboat without the permission of the Malaysian Supply Controller while in Boheyan Island Sea waters, Semporna.


Meanwhile, Sanyo was fined RM50,000 or one year's jail, and six months' jail, after pleading guilty to possessing 175 litres of petrol in an unregistered speedboat without the permission of the Malaysian Supply Controller while in the waters of Boheyan Island, Semporna.


The court further ordered that the case items, namely the petrol, boat and boat engine, be handed over to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Semporna branch for disposal.


The prosecution for both cases was handled by the Chief District Enforcement Officer, KPDNHEP Semporna branch, Jong Jee Leong.


In a media statement today, the KPDNHEP Sabah Office and KPDNHEP Semporna branch thanked the General Operations Force (PGA) for their cooperation and a raid team for both cases.
