UNDUK NGADAU QUEEN APPOINTED AS SABAH SME PRODUCT AMBASSADOR


Maya receives her letter of appointment as Product Ambassador for Sabah SME.

KOTA KINABALU: The 2021 Unduk Ngadau Queen has been appointed as Product Ambassador for the Sabah Small and Medium Enterprises (SME).


Maya Hejnowska, 20, received her letter of appointment in a brief ceremony at the Ministry of Industrial Development here, today.


The handover was witnessed by Deputy Chief Minister cum Minister of Industrial Development Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam.


As an ambassador, Maya received a cash prize of RM10,000 and will promote Sabah SME products including acting in a video clip of the "Buy Sabah Made Goods" campaign.

Meanwhile, Dr Joachim said his ministry was working with the KadazanDusun Cultural Association (KDCA) to appoint Maya as the Sabah SME Product Ambassador for a period of one year.


He said the ministry would launch the Buy Sabah Made Goods Campaign to help SME entrepreneurs in the state.


“The campaign aims to introduce the products of Sabah SME entrepreneurs to the Sabahan and foreign communities and further encourage consumers to support and buy local products.


"Besides that, this campaign is also to help expand the market for small and medium entrepreneurs to the state and foreign levels," he said.


So far, more than 4,000 products of Sabah SME entrepreneurs are in the local market and 2,340 products have been registered in the ministry's official e-commerce platform, the GoBiz application.


Also present were the Honorable Assistant Minister of Industrial Development, Tamin Zainal; Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industrial Development; Thomas Logijin and Chairman of Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan 2021, Joanna Datuk Kitingan.
