PENAMPANG: Having been in search of a truly representative and progressive political party since 2007, I am proud to share my heartfelt appreciation for the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO).

My journey to find a party that genuinely advocates for the people of Sabah and embodies integrity has been long and challenging, but in 2017, I found a political home that aligns with my values and aspirations.

First and foremost, the leadership of UPKO stands out as a beacon of dedication, integrity, and vision.

Advisor, Tan Sri Bernard Dompok, Honorary President Datuk Madius Tangau and President Datuk Ewon Benedick are dedicated leaders.

They are not merely figureheads, but are committed servants of the people who understand the complexities and aspirations of our diverse communities.

Their humility, transparency, and unwavering commitment to Sabah’s development have earned my trust. They are approachable, responsible, and genuinely invested in creating positive change, which is inspiring for any member who seeks meaningful leadership.

Secondly, I deeply admire the struggles that UPKO has endured over the years. The party has faced numerous challenges—political pressures, societal expectations, and the constant fight for Sabah’s rights within the broader Malaysian political landscape.

Yet, through these hardships, UPKO has remained steadfast in its mission to champion the interests of Sabahans. Their resilience and perseverance are testaments to their dedication, proving that they are not just a political entity but a movement rooted in the fight for justice, equality, and progress for our people.

Having joined UPKO in 2017 after years of searching for a party that truly represents Sabah’s unique needs, I have witnessed firsthand how the party’s principles translate into tangible actions. From advocating for fair development for the people and the State as a whole,  to promoting unity among diverse communities, UPKO’s governance reflects a genuine desire to serve and uplift Sabahans.

I would like to emphasise that UPKO is a truly inclusive party, welcoming members from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds and religious beliefs.

The party exemplifies the principle of unity in diversity, fostering an environment where differing perspectives are valued and respected. UPKO’s strength lies in its commitment to harmony and cooperation among all communities, recognising that diversity is a vital asset in building a cohesive and progressive society.

I believe UPKO embodies the goodness that a political party should uphold—leadership grounded in integrity and resilience, and a struggle driven by the unwavering pursuit of Sabah’s betterment. It is an organisation that not only seeks power but strives to make a meaningful difference in the lives of its people, and I am proud to be part of this journey.
