UPKO Youth Penampang Division to Host Closed Sepak Takraw Tournament for Local Talent

PENAMPANG : The United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) Youth Division of Penampang, under the leadership of Division Chief Billy Joe Dominic, will be organising a closed Sepak Takraw tournament exclusively for residents of the Penampang District.

Division Treasurer Herman Amat has been appointed as the organising chairman for the event.

Scheduled for 12 and 13 July 2025, the tournament will be held at the Kampung Tampasak Babagon Sports Court. This grassroots initiative is aimed at discovering and nurturing local Sepak Takraw talent while promoting an active, healthy lifestyle.

Herman highlighted that participation is strictly limited to registered voters within the Penampang Parliamentary Constituency.

“This tournament is a platform for our local athletes to showcase their skills in Sepak Takraw. It’s about building community pride, encouraging sportsmanship, and cultivating interest in the sport among the younger generation,” he said.

He further emphasised that all team entries must include a completed registration form and a photocopy of each participant’s MyKad for verification purposes.

The event also aims to foster unity and camaraderie among Penampang’s youth through the shared spirit of competition and traditional sport.
