TAMPARULI: Resident of Kampung Tiong Ratau and Kampung Simpodon are begging the state government, especially Kiulu State Assemblyman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, to quicken the repair works of the road connecting the two villages.
Felix John, villager of Kampung Tiong-Ratau, claimed the condition of the road worsens every time it rains and will be impassable as river water overflows, causing floods in the area.

"We really hope that the wakil rakyat (elected representative) can help solve this problem for the benefit of all villagers who pass through the road.
“This road is the only one connecting Tiong Ratau and Tiong Simpodon so when flood occurs, there is no alternative road for us.
"All we can do is wait until the flood subsides, and then the villagers will work together to clean up the aftermath so the road can be passable again," he told Nabalu News, today

According to Felix, the road was damaged due to flood a few months back but was repaired, thanks to one of the villagers who took up the initiative to contact the elected contractor as well as the fast action taken by Tuaran MP Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau.
"We want a long-term solution, such as replacing the culvert in the area to a larger measurement or building a bridge, if possible.
"Every time it rains heavily and flood occurs, the culvert will be clogged as it cannot accommodate large amount of water, causing it to overflow which floods the road."
