KOTA KINABALU : A fun run themed "Wellness Meets Cocoa in Every Stride", was held here today in conjunction with the Malaysian International Cocoa Fair (MICF) 2025 currently being held at Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC).

The programme was organised by the Welfare, Sports and Recreation Club (KKSR) of the Malaysian Cocoa Board (LKM), in collaboration with the KSRUN Athletics Club.

The event aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle while celebrating the uniqueness of cocoa as a Malaysian heritage product.

It brought together 1,000 participants from various backgrounds, thereby strengthening the bond between the community and the national cocoa industry.

Each participant received a special Choco Rush T-shirt, a finisher’s medal, and light refreshments, which included cocoa-based treats and Milo. Notably, participants who completed the run were treated to KitKat Dark Borneo, a special product made from local cocoa. The event also featured a lucky draw and busking performances to create a fun and memorable experience.

Festivities began as early as 5am with participant arrivals, followed by a Zumba warm-up session with Zin Barbie at 6am. The flag-off was officiated at 6:30am by Datuk Chan Foong Hin, Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities, alongside LKM's senior management.

Activities continued with breakfast, live entertainment, and several lucky draw sessions until 10am. Participants also received chocolate vouchers redeemable at the Kinabatangan Hall starting at 10am.

This event was more than just a run, it was a movement to promote wellness, introduce the cocoa industry, foster community spirit, and strengthen public engagement with MICF 2025.

According to Abdul Karim Che Hamid, President of the Welfare, Sports and Recreation Club of the Malaysian Cocoa Board (KKSR) and Chairman of the Choco Rush Organising Committee, the event was made possible through the support of: Milo, KitKat, Life Water Industries Sdn. Bhd., Overseas Supply Trading (OST), Tanjung Aru Development Berhad (TAED), Koperasi Kluster Koko Sabah Berhad (KKKSB), Koperasi Kluster Koko Semenanjung Berhad (KOPSEM), and Koperasi Kluster Koko Sarawak Berhad (3KQ).
