KENINGAU: The Bingkor Community Welfare Association has welcomed the statement by the President of the Association of Honorary Members of the Malaysian Volunteer Corps (Rela) Sabah, Honorary Brigadier General (Rela) Dato’ Jerry Ambuting Mohd Said, who expressed appreciation for the Prime Minister’s assurance regarding the implementation of Sabah’s rights, including payment of the 40 per cent net revenue entitlement as provided under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

Its Chairman, Yazid Mohd Hasnan Tawik @ Charles, said the assurance marks a positive development that reflects the Federal Government’s readiness to progress into a more concrete phase of implementation for the benefit of the people of Sabah.

He added that the commitment must be reinforced with a clear, orderly and realistic implementation timeline to ensure that its benefits are delivered comprehensively and sustainably.

“The people of Sabah have high expectations. MA63 rights are not new demands, but rights guaranteed at the formation of Malaysia. Structured implementation will strengthen unity and public confidence in the government,” he said in a statement today.

Yazid also expressed confidence in the leadership of the Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor, whom he said consistently brings the voice of Sabahans to the negotiation table with wisdom and in the spirit of cooperation between the State and Federal Governments.

“The harmonious approach practised by the Chief Minister is believed to be capable of achieving the best outcomes for Sabah,” he added.

He said the association hopes that the meeting scheduled before mid-January 2026 will result in a payment mechanism that is orderly, consistent and beneficial to all Sabahans, in line with the spirit of MA63 and the principle of fair partnership.

The Bingkor Community Welfare Association, he said, firmly supports the positive cooperation between the State and Federal Governments.

“Together, let us strengthen justice, empower unity and restore rightful entitlements for the future of Sabah and Malaysia,” he said.
