COVID-19: THREE NEW CLUSTERS IDENTIFIED IN SABAH

By Ruby Koh KOTA KINABALU: Sabah registered three new Covid-19 clusters today involving Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, Beluran and Tawau districts which were all identified through workplace screening.


Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Masidi Manjun said the clusters are 'Jalan Satu, KKIP' cluster in Kota Kinabalu and Tuaran, 'Ladang Tangkarason' cluster in Beluran and 'Bandar Lama' cluster in Tawau. "Jalan Satu, KKIP cluster has a cumulative total of 30 cases, including three new cases reported today. "The index case of this cluster was a clothing store worker in Kota Kinabalu who tested positive through screening before starting work.

"The virus then transmitted to a family member who was also a clothing store worker but in KKIP," he said in a statement today. Meanwhile, the index case of the Ladang Tangkarason cluster who showed symptoms tested positive after a workplace screening on Feb 1. "The cluster today recorded 15 more new cases and the cumulative total of infections in the cluster now stands at 16.


"For Bandar Lama cluster in Tawau, an additional of five new cases were detected, bringing the cumulative total of infections in the cluster to 24 cases.


"The index case was working in the city centre who tested positive through a screening of symptomatic individuals on 21 Jan. Close contact tracing is still being conducted actively," said Masidi.

Sabah recorded a total of 190 new Covid-19 cases and 337 recoveries today. One new Covid-19 death was also reported in Sandakan.
