BERLIN: Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Ewon Benedick began a working visit yesterday by attending a pre-council meeting with the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and the Malaysian delegation.

Ewon, along with Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, accompanied the Prime Minister on a five-day working visit (from March 10 to 15) to Germany.

The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDC) and its agencies, namely SME Bank and SME Corp, also participated in the SME Future Day organised by the German Association for Small and Medium-sized Businesses (Bundesverband mittelständische Wirtschaft - BVMW), starting this Wednesday.

Four Malaysian small and medium-sized enterprises and two French companies also took part. The Prime Minister is expected to visit the ministry booth managed by MEDC.

After the pre-council meeting, the Malaysian delegation visited Siemens Energy, which is a leading company in the hydrogen-based energy sector.

Siemens has investments and collaborations with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) in Malaysia. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia have the potential for participation and involvement in the supply chain system by Siemens Energy.

Subsequently, Ewon, along with the Prime Minister and the Malaysian delegation, held a meeting with the President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, at Bellevue Palace, Berlin.

The meeting aimed to further strengthen the trade cooperation and diplomatic relations between the two countries.
