SANDAKAN: Former Karamunting State Assemblyman, Datuk George Hiew Vun Zin, has expressed his appreciation to Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) and its contractor for their prompt action in replacing two deteriorated electricity poles that were found leaning and eroded along Jalan Pei Yin, here.
He said several power poles in the area had become old and showed signs of tilting and erosion at their bases, raising concerns that they could collapse if not replaced promptly.
“Upon receiving feedback from residents, we went to the site together with representatives from Sabah Electricity and the Head of the Karamunting Service Team, Yap Hsiu Min, to monitor the replacement works,” he said.
The operation was also witnessed by local residents, including two community representatives who were present at the site.
George, who is also the Karamunting Division Chief of Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah, described the utility company’s swift action as a reflection of its concern for public safety and the stability of electricity supply in the area.
He also encouraged residents to report any instances of ageing or hazardous electrical infrastructure so that immediate action can be taken to prevent any untoward incidents.
