MEMBAKUT: In ongoing village visits, Rowindy Lawrence Odong, a candidate from United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) for the Membakut State Assembly constituency, has assured voters that their access to government assistance remains secure regardless of the election outcome.

During her campaign, Rowindy emphasised that eligibility for government aid is not influenced by political parties or specific candidates. Instead, she explained that assistance is determined by government agencies, civil servants, and existing policies, ensuring that distribution is carried out fairly, professionally, and independently of politics.

Her Key Messages to Voters are:

Assistance is a Right, Not a Reward for Voting: Citizens are entitled to government aid based on eligibility criteria, regardless of which candidate they support or elect.

Civil Servants are the Main Administrators: The processing, verification, and approval of aid applications are handled by impartial government officials, not politicians.

No Law on Cancelling Aid if the Opposition Wins:  There are no laws that will revoke citizens’ rights to receive aid if the opposition or candidates from other parties are victorious in the election.

Threats Are Not Permitted: Using threats of aid withdrawal to intimidate voters is unfair, unethical, and could undermine the democratic process.

Rowindy urged voters to exercise their rights freely and confidently, emphasising that their political choices will not affect their access to essential government assistance.

In her message to the residents of Membakut, Rowindy stated, “Do not be afraid. Vote according to your conscience. Your rights as citizens cannot be taken away because of your political preference.”

She hopes to dispel misinformation and fears among voters, encouraging them to participate in democracy without fear or undue influence.
