KOTA KINABALU: In a heartwarming gesture, a princess from Pahang recently visited six villages near Kota Kinabalu, delivering early Christmas gifts and comforting bedridden elderly patients.
Her visit was part of the “Deepavali Love Delivery” programme, an initiative organized by the World Chinese Qipao Alliance (WCQA) and the Tavan Welfare and Entrepreneurship Association Sabah on November 1.
Tengku Puteri Rosmawini Tengku Dato’ Muiz Shah, accompanied by Tavan association founder Elaine Wong and a team of 30 volunteers, made the journey through rugged mountainous terrain to reach the villages of Tombongon, Mawaras, Marahang, Bongud, Topuan, and Kokol Hills.
Together, they distributed 300 gift packages and visited 16 elderly residents who have been bedridden for extended periods.
According to a statement from the association, the team also brought school supplies, toys, and clothes for local children, while the elderly received food provisions, adult diapers, and other essential items.
The children’s excitement was palpable as Tengku Puteri Rosmawini personally handed out their gifts, offering them words of encouragement to pursue their studies and follow their dreams.
Tengku Puteri Rosmawini also took the time to visit bedridden elderly villagers, engaging them in conversations about their health and daily challenges.
Her compassionate words and warm demeanor provided much-needed reassurance and comfort.
The princess’s charitable deeds reflect her genuine benevolence and embody a true sense of nobility—demonstrated not through wealth or status but through her dedication and care for vulnerable communities.
Elaine Wong expressed her hope that Tengku Puteri Rosmawini’s efforts would inspire others to support marginalized communities, particularly those living in remote areas of Sabah.
“Some of the elderly here face severe mobility challenges, impaired vision, and hearing loss, yet they hold onto life with remarkable resilience,” Wong noted.
“Providing help and sponsorship to those in need fosters the growth of human welfare and often takes the form of donations or volunteer work. Let us join hands to spread this love and hope, making the world a better place for all,” she added.
