KOTA KINABALU: In the tabling of the Sabah Budget 2026 in the State Legislative Assembly today, Datuk Masidi Manjun, the Finance Minister and Deputy Minister II, highlighted a significant measure aimed at boosting morale among civil servants. The Minister announced a special financial assistance programme to be disbursed to all Sabah civil service personnel.

“Civil servants are the backbone of our administration, and their dedication is vital to delivering quality services to the people of Sabah,” Masidi said. “To recognise their hard work and commitment, the Sabah Government is providing a one-off financial aid, amounting to RM2,000 or equivalent to one month’s salary, whichever is higher, to all civil servants, including those on contract, open votes, and daily part-time workers.”

The assistance, which is expected to benefit approximately 18,853 recipients, will involve an estimated financial outlay of RM52.6 million. The payments will be made in two instalments, the first in February, prior to Hari Raya Aidilfitri, and the second before the Kaamatan celebrations in 2026.

This initiative aims to bring cheer to the civil service community and recognise their ongoing contributions towards the development of Sabah. The move also complements the government’s broader efforts to improve the welfare of its employees, fostering a motivated and committed workforce in the year ahead.
