KOTA KINABALU: The Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu Pearl (RCKK Pearl), Sabah’s first all-women Rotary club, is set to celebrate a decade of impactful community service with its 11th Installation Ceremony and 10th Anniversary Gala on 6 September 2025 at the Hilton Kota Kinabalu.
The event will also mark the official installation of Datin Dr Jeanette Tambakau as the Club’s 11th President, under the theme “Unite for Good.” Sabah Finance Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun, will officiate as Guest of Honour.
Over the past ten years, RCKK Pearl has spearheaded numerous transformative projects across Sabah, focusing on underserved communities and sustainable development.
Among the club’s flagship initiatives:
Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH): Clean water supply has been delivered to 38 villages, improving the lives of over 15,000 individuals. New WASH projects valued at RM2.8 million are planned for Ranau, Kota Marudu, and Sipitang.
Project REAL (Rural Focus English for All): The initiative has expanded literacy and English language skills in 51 rural schools, benefiting more than 12,000 students.
Project Kelip-Kelip: Focused on mangrove and firefly habitat restoration in Kampung Darau, this project also promotes eco-tourism and environmental sustainability.
Maternal and Child Care – Ibu Sejahtera Programme: Aimed at empowering young mothers through health awareness and support services.
Additional outreach includes cataract surgeries for the underprivileged, women’s entrepreneurship training, environmental reforestation efforts, and youth development via Interact and Rotaract clubs.
The anniversary gala will also serve as a fundraising dinner, with proceeds going towards the club’s ongoing community initiatives. A portion of the funds will be channelled to the Seri Mengasih Centre, which provides care and education for children and individuals with special needs in Sabah.
Guests can look forward to an evening of cultural performances, featuring a line-up of local artistes and traditional groups, celebrating the rich creative and cultural heritage of Sabah.
“Ten years on, our mission remains unchanged , to serve with compassion and create lasting change in our community,” said Jeanette, incoming President for 2025–2026.
“This celebration is not only a reflection of our journey so far but a recommitment to building a better future for Sabah.”
