Scoot launches flights to Key Indonesian Cities

KUALA LUMPUR: Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines (SIA), has today announced the launch of new flight services to Labuan Bajo, Medan, Palembang, and Semarang. These flights will commence progressively between December 2025 and February 2026, further strengthening Scoot’s presence in Indonesia and offering travellers a wider range of exciting travel options.
Labuan Bajo, situated in the western part of Flores Island in Indonesia, is renowned for its unspoilt beaches, stunning coral reefs, and vibrant marine life in the Flores Sea. As the primary gateway to Komodo National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, Labuan Bajo also offers spectacular views of surrounding islands such as Padar Island, alongside cultural attractions like Wae Rebo Village. From 21 December 2025, Scoot will operate twice-weekly flights to Labuan Bajo using the Embraer E190-E2 aircraft.
Medan, the capital of North Sumatra, is a bustling metropolis offering travellers access to Lake Toba, the largest volcanic lake in the world. As a gateway for nature expeditions, Medan also boasts cultural landmarks such as Maimun Palace, the Grand Mosque, and the historic Tjong A Fie Mansion. Scoot will commence daily flights to Medan on the Airbus A320 family aircraft from 1 February 2026.

Palembang, the capital of South Sumatra, is one of Indonesia’s oldest cities. It is famous for notable sites such as the Great Mosque of Palembang and the Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Museum. As a centre of trade and culture, Palembang is lively with traditional markets and unique culinary offerings, blending historical legacy with modern development. From 15 January 2026, Scoot will operate four flights weekly to Palembang using the Embraer E190-E2.
Semarang, the vibrant capital of Central Java, is rich in cultural heritage and Dutch colonial architecture. Notable landmarks include the Lawang Sewu building, now a museum and gallery, the Great Mosque of Central Java, and a dynamic culinary scene. Offering a mix of Javanese history and multicultural influences, Semarang will see three flights weekly operated on the Airbus A320 from 23 December 2025, increasing to four flights weekly from 1 January 2026.
Thanks to seamless connections via Singapore, Malaysian travellers can now explore these destinations with Scoot. One-way Economy Class fares start from MYR369 to Labuan Bajo, MYR239 to Medan, MYR299 to Palembang, and MYR269 to Semarang, inclusive of taxes. The new flights are available for booking from today via Scoot’s website, mobile app, and progressively through other channels.

With the introduction of services to Labuan Bajo, Medan, Palembang, and Semarang, Scoot will operate over 120 weekly flights to 15 cities across Indonesia from February 2026. Scoot’s network will expand to 83 destinations across 18 countries and territories in Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Europe.
In anticipation of increased demand during the upcoming holiday season, Scoot will also implement network adjustments from October 2025. These include maintaining flights to Jakarta at 28 times weekly from November 2025, while increasing services to Manado from four to six times weekly. From January 2026, flights to Surabaya will rise from 10 to 12 times weekly, Bali from 21 to 28 times weekly, and Yogyakarta from seven to 10 times weekly. Additional services to Bangkok will increase from 39 to 42 times weekly from October 2025, with flights to Koh Samui rising to 28 times weekly by December 2025. In Malaysia, flights to Penang will increase from 21 to 28 times weekly from November 2025, while services to Kota Kinabalu and Kuching will both rise from seven to 10 times weekly from February 2026. Flights to Vientiane in Laos will also increase from five to seven times weekly from December 2025.
