KOTA BELUD: Sabah Energy Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (SEC) continues to reinforce its commitment to environmental sustainability by participating in the 100 Million Tree Planting Campaign 2021–2025, organised in collaboration with the Sabah Forestry Department (SFD) at the Ulu Kukut Forest Reserve here today.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives, SEC contributed RM25,000 to SFD to support the planting of 680 tree saplings comprising native forest species such as Dipterocarpus, Laran, and Binuang.

The contribution was presented by SEC Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Adzmir Abd Rahman, to the Chief Conservator of Forests, Datuk Frederick Kugan, in a brief ceremony witnessed by senior management representatives from both organisations.

As a symbolic gesture of participation, 50 SEC employees also took part in the planting of 60 trees within a 1.7-hectare area allocated to the company.

Adzmir said SEC’s involvement in the programme reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting effective environmental conservation and preservation efforts.

“In pursuing industrial progress, we must not lose sight of our harmony with nature. Environmental sustainability is not merely a corporate responsibility but a legacy we must safeguard for future generations,” he said.

The 100 Million Tree Planting Campaign is part of SFD’s long-term initiative to conserve forest areas, with the aim of increasing green cover and strengthening Sabah’s forest ecosystems.

With the participation of corporate partners such as SEC, the initiative is expected to accelerate the nation’s greening agenda while fostering public awareness of the importance of environmental stewardship.
