KOTA BELUD: Kadamaian State Assemblyman Datuk Ewon Benedict has demonstrated an inspiring act of generosity by contributing RM5,000 each to three churches within his constituency.
One of the recipients was SIB Church Kg Melangkap Tiong, represented by its chairman, Domunih Malandi.
His church boasts a congregation of 327, and the money will go towards the purchase of materials for walls, roofing, stilts, and flooring.
"We are very grateful to Datuk Ewon for this contribution, as it will go a long way in helping us realise the establishment we envision," he said.
In his expression of gratitude, he wished Datuk Ewon success in all his endeavours and invoked the Almighty's blessings upon him.

Jackson Yabis, representative of SIB Melangkap Nariou, who also received RM5,000, expressed his deep appreciation for the financial assistance, noting that the funds would be used to purchase musical instruments for their 300-strong congregation.
"We are truly blessed to have a generous and people-oriented leader like him, and we pray for him to continue being our leader," he said.

The RM5,000 contribution will also greatly benefit the congregation of St Nancy Catholic Church in Melangkap Tiong, said its catechist, Nelly Shuim.
"We will use the money to buy plastic chairs for our congregation. At present, we have wooden benches, which can be quite uncomfortable," she shared.
Her church has about 200 members, she added.
"I wish to thank Datuk Ewon for his kind contribution," she said.
The contributions were presented by Datuk Ewon during the Jom Coop event, organised by the Malaysian Cooperative Institute (IKMA) in conjunction with the Kaamatan Festival Celebration and the Official Opening of Kg Melangkap, held at the Open Hall of Tamu Desa Melangkap.
The assemblyman’s gesture is seen not only as a reflection of goodwill but also as a reaffirmation of the importance of inclusivity, religious harmony, and public service.
His support serves as a timely reminder of the essential role that houses of worship continue to play in nurturing community spirit and resilience.
