Street Soccer 3-on-3 Set to Become New Attraction for Penampang Youth

PENAMPANG: The upcoming Street Soccer 3-on-3 tournament, organised by UPKO Youth Penampang Division, is poised to offer a fresh and exciting sporting platform for local youth, particularly in a format rarely held in the region.

Following discussions during the Penampang Youth Activity Direction Meeting, the initiative, spearheaded by Penampang UPKO Youth Chief Billy Joe Dominic, received unanimous support. The event is organised in collaboration with Micheal Fadillah Rio, President of Pertubuhan Seri Sejati Moyog Penampang (SEHATI), and Billy Jinawat, Chairman of the Moyog Penampang Community Welfare Association (PMO).

It was agreed during the meeting that Belly Stephen Ajis, Secretary of Activities for UPKO Youth Penampang Division, will serve as Organising Chairman for the tournament.

Speaking on the event, Belly Stephen Ajis explained that the tournament will take place at the Penampang Sports Complex on 9 and 10 August 2025, from 7:00am to 5:00pm. It will be officially launched by UPKO Penampang Division Chief Datuk Donald Peter Mojuntin.

The competition is open to all youths, regardless of whether they are from the Penampang District, outside the district, or even outside the state of Sabah.

“Everyone is welcome, the more participants we have, the better,” said Belly. “This is a great opportunity to meet new people, forge friendships, and strengthen bonds among youths through sport.”

The registration fee is set at RM100 per team, and the deadline for registration is 6 August 2025. Participants are encouraged to register as soon as possible to secure a spot.

“Street Soccer 3-on-3 is not a format we often see here,” Belly added. “Now’s the time to take on the challenge and experience something different.”
