Team Sabah Flexes Ambition for Glory at Mr Malaysia Championship

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Bodybuilding Association (SBBA) is gearing up to make a commanding mark at the 54th Mr Malaysia Championship, taking place from 25 to 29 September in Kuantan, Pahang.
SBBA President, Clarence Runggi, confirmed that Sabah will field a complete line-up in every category except the junior division, with a clear goal of clinching at least two gold medals.
Speaking at Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) as he sent off the state contingent, Clarence said,
“Sabah is coming in with almost full force this year. Our athletes are in peak condition, and we are confident of producing a performance the state can be proud of.”
The contingent was also accompanied by SBBA officials, while Ice Gemilang, the team’s official attire sponsor, lent its support at the send-off.
Widely regarded as the pinnacle of national bodybuilding, the Mr Malaysia Championship brings together the country’s finest athletes in pursuit of national glory.
With soaring determination and strong backing, Team Sabah is aiming to make history in this year’s prestigious event.
Leading the Sabah Bodybuilding Association contingent is Clarence Runggi, who serves as President. He is supported by Alik Makim, the Deputy President and Judge representing Sabah. Also on the official team are Johnny Said, Vice President and Coach 1; Jeffery Thaddeus, Treasurer and Coach 2; Diana Anthony, Secretary; and Joannes Staneslous, Vice President of the Malaysian Bodybuilding Federation (MBBF).
The team of athletes includes Geinod Lozitin and Grace Voo, who will compete in the Light Heavyweight category. Affan Affandy Sazali Lee and Mohammad Asraf Bin Hamza will represent Sabah in the Men’s Sports Physique (above 170cm) category. Wandy Bin Anjum @ Ajum is contesting in the Bantamweight division, while Suhaili Bin Toipin @ Masdin is competing in the Light Middleweight category. Muhammad Hakimi Bin Abdullah takes on the Lightweight class, and Allen Carlson Aloysius Sem is entered in the Middleweight division. Tony Meldan Masabal will compete in the Light Flyweight category, while Maratin Magalai is participating in the Flyweight division. Completing the line-up is Rozally Bin Golbin @ Azmi, who will contest in the Masters under 70kg category.
