Tribute to the Late Joannis Joimin, Former Catechist of St Michael’s Parish, Penampang

PENAMPANG: United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) Supreme Council Member, Marcellus Tambud, paid a condolence visit to the family home of the late Joannis Joimin in Mandang, Kampung Tampasak, to extend his sympathies and support to the bereaved family of the esteemed religious figure.


The late Joannis Joimin served as a full-time catechist at St Michael’s Parish, Penampang, from 1980 to 2000, playing a pivotal role in nurturing the Catholic faith and providing religious education to the local community.


During the solemn visit, Marcellus described Joannis as a dedicated spiritual leader with a noble heart, whose legacy continues to be remembered and cherished.


“The sacrifices and service of the late Joannis Joimin to the Church and the community were truly profound. He not only imparted the teachings of the faith, but also helped shape the moral character of the younger generation during his time. His passing is a significant loss to the Catholic community in Penampang,” said Marcellus.


He also presented a token of condolence to the family as a gesture of sympathy and support, and offered prayers for the repose of the soul of the deceased, expressing hope that he is granted eternal peace among the faithful.


This visit reflects a spirit of unity, compassion, and deep appreciation for individuals who have made meaningful contributions to the spiritual and communal development of society.
